Dr. Aslı Deniz Helvacıoğlu
Director of BoÄŸaziçi University Innovation Research Center, Associate Professor at Bogazici University

Dr. Aslı Deniz Helvacıoğlu is a Director of the Bogazici University Innovation Research Center and an Associate Professor at Bogazici University.
​
She has been engaged in studies regarding the development of innovative policies within the framework of innovation law and policies, creation of innovation strategies and structuring of innovation eco-systems. Her current work includes the protection of personal data in highly innovative eco-systems, regulations on innovative technologies, data management in smart cities, and innovation management in innovative agricultural systems.
​
She is a graduate of Marmara University, Department of International Relations, and received her master's degree in Europe Union and her PhD in EU Law from the EU Institute of Marmara University.
Dr. Hanna Stakheyeva
The GW Lab - Türkiye Initiative Leader, and a Knowledge Counsel at ACTECON

Dr. Hanna Stakheyeva serves as Knowledge Counsel at ACTECON, where she leads the firm’s knowledge strategy by managing legal content, publications, training programs, conferences, and innovative knowledge-sharing initiatives.
​
Her career spans legal practice in Istanbul, Brussels, and Kyiv, complemented by academic contributions at BoÄŸaziçi University and the ELSA Summer School.
​
Dr. Stakheyeva holds degrees from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and the University of Amsterdam, along with an International Baccalaureate diploma from UWC Atlantic in Wales, UK. She is admitted to the Bar of Ukraine and has contributed to numerous international conferences and publications.
​
Committed to advancing international collaboration, she actively engages with global organizations and research institutions to support impactful developments in competition law. She serves as an ambassador of the Value of Competition Programme by the Oxford University Centre for Competition Law and Policy, and leads the regional initiative of the George Washington Competition & Innovation Lab. In 2025, she launched Knowledge Connect, an annual event dedicated to knowledge counsels and professional support lawyers working in the field of competition law.


Dr. Aurelien Portuese
Founding Director of the GW Lab at the George Washington University

Professor Portuese is an antitrust expert on US antitrust laws and EU competition laws. Aurelien Portuese is the Research Professor and Founding Director of the GW Competition & Innovation Lab at the George Washington University.
Professor Portuese’s most recent book was published in 2025, “The Battle for the Future of Antitrust: Brandeis, Bork and Schumpeter” (Palgrave). Professor Portuese published the book Algorithmic Antitrust in 2022, and the book The Principle of Economic Efficiency in the European Case-Law in 2014.
​
Aurelien Portuese has published several articles on antitrust, including in the Stanford Journal of Law, Business & Finance, George Mason Law Review, Columbia Journal of European Law, Journal of Economic Affairs, European Journal of Law & Economics, Journal of Law, Economics & Policy, Manchester Journal of International Economic Law, European Law Journal, Concurrences, Competition Policy International. He also wrote numerous op-eds, shorter articles, and public comments for regulatory authorities.

Professor Portuese was nominated for the 2022 Antitrust Writing Award for his article Precautionary Antitrust and for the 2019 Antitrust Writing Award for his article Antitrust Populism.
​
Professor Portuese is the Editor of the Symposium Beyond Dynamic Competition of the ABA’s Antitrust Law Journal to be published in 2024.
​
He is also a member of the intergovernmental group of experts on Competition Law and Policy of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He regularly speaks at conferences and private events.
Antonio Capobianco
Deputy Head of the Competition Division, OECD
​
Antonio Capobianco is the Deputy Head of the OECD Competition Division. He is responsible for the proceedings of the OECD Competition Committee and for other work streams of the Division. Over the years at the OECD, Mr Capobianco has coordinated a series of OECD projects and work streams and has authored numerous Background Notes of the Secretariat on a wide range of competition law enforcement and policy topics. He has led many in-country projects to support domestic reforms and he regularly represents the OECD at international events.
Prior to joining the OECD in 2007, Mr Capobianco was a Counsel in the Competition Department of WilmerHale LLP, based in Brussels. He also spent three years with the Italian Competition Authority. Mr Capobianco authored several articles on antitrust issues published on major international law journals specialized in competition law and he co-authored textbooks on Italian and European competition law and economics. He regularly speaks at international conferences on antitrust and regulation issues. Mr. Capobianco graduated in law at the L.U.I.S.S. - Guido Carli in Rome and holds LL.M. degrees from the Law School of the New York University and from the Institute of European Studies of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.


Esin Aygün
Chief Advisor, Turkish Competition Authority

Esin Aygün, who started her duty at the Turkish Competition Authority as an assistant expert, has held positions such as Chief Competition Expert, Deputy Head of Department, Head of Department and Vice President.
​
She continues her duty as TCA's Chief Advisor. Aygün, who completed LL.M. degree in International Competition Law and Policy with distinction at the University of East Anglia (Norwich, UK) in 2013, continues her Ph.D. studies at the same university
Her research is about the discussion of the regulatory choices for digital platforms in emerging economies.
​
She is also member of The George Washington University Competition and Innovation Lab Türkiye Initiative Advisory Board.
Dr. Zeynep Ayata
Senior Researcher at Istanbul Policy Center, Sabancı University
​
Dr. Zeynep Ayata is a Senior Researcher at Istanbul Policy Center at Sabanci University, and an Associate Professor of European Union and Competition Law. She holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, an LLB from Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne and an LLM from College of Europe (Bruges) and a PhD in private law from the University of Ankara.
​
She worked as assistant professor at Koç University Law School. She has been a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, at the British Institute of Comparative and International Law and a visiting researcher at the Cambridge University Centre for Law, Medicine and Life Sciences. She is the author of several book chapters, scholarly articles and she has also published a book on competition law, EU law and law and technology.
She has conducted a Jean Monnet Action on EU law and digitalization funded by the EU Commission and a research project on innovation policy and regulation funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. She has also worked in three research projects on social enterprises funded by the British Council, the European Union and the World Bank. She is currently working as a researcher in the Jean Monnet Policy Debate Action ENDE. She is a board member of the Academic Society for Competition Law and a Value of Competition Ambassador.


Selçuk Yılmaz

Selçuk Yılmaz is currently serving as Deputy Head of Department at the Turkish Competition Authority, where he previously held the positions of Assistant Competition Expert and Competition Expert. In parallel with his professional career, he completed his legal traineeship at the Ankara Bar Association and is a qualified lawyer.
​
He graduated from TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Faculty of Law, and obtained his LL.M. degree in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law. He is presently pursuing his Ph.D., focusing on the impact of developments in the field of information technologies on criminal liability
Can Sarıçiçek

Mrs. Sarıçiçek is Counsel at ACTECON, specializing in competition law and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining ACTECON, she worked for the Turkish Competition Authority, where she served as the Deputy Head of Department specializing in digital markets. Her practice covers day-to-day competition compliance, investigations, merger control and exemption applications.
​
She advises clients across diverse sectors including i.e. AI, online marketplaces, digital advertising, social media and provides clients with tailored solutions to execute industry-specific strategies.
​
At the Turkish Competition Authority, she led and contributed to major investigations, merger reviews, and legislative work—most notably the E-marketplaces Sector Inquiry and the draft amendment aligning Turkish law with the EU Digital Markets Act.
​
Mrs. Sarıçiçek represented Turkey in international forums such as the OECD, UNCTAD, and the EU Commission, and was invited by the OECD to present the E-marketplaces Sector Inquiry Report. She holds a master’s degree in competition and business law from Freie Universität Berlin and is fluent in English.


Natasha Afinogenova
Corporate Counsel at Google

Natasha Afinogenova serves as Corporate Counsel at Google, where she oversees Google’s competition law compliance across a diverse and complex region that includes the Middle East (including Türkiye), Africa, and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
​
Her work involves navigating intricate regulatory landscapes, advising on antitrust matters, and ensuring that Google’s operations align with competition rules locally and internationally.
​
She holds a law degree from the Russian Law Academy and a Master of Public Administration from the State University of New York. Natasha is fluent in English and has some knowledge of French. She's currently based in Dubai.
Cavit Yantaç
Customer Success Lead at Microsoft Europe South Multi Country Cluster at Microsoft
​
Cavit Yantaç currently serves as the Customer Success Lead at Microsoft Europe South Multi Country Cluster at Microsoft Türkiye. Having been with Microsoft for 18 years, he has held numerous leadership positions within the company. Most recently, he served as Director of Technical Program Management in Microsoft’s global Commercial Engineering team, overseeing major public sector institutions worldwide. Based in Istanbul, he led a multinational team developing innovative projects across a wide geography—from Australia to the United Kingdom—in fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, and secure data sharing between institutions.
​
Prior to this global role, Yantaç spent 11 years at Microsoft Türkiye. He began his Microsoft career in 2006 as a Technology Solutions Specialist, later becoming Solution Sales Team Manager in 2009. In his most recent position at Microsoft Türkiye, he served as Deputy General Manager of Software Development, supporting developers, students, educational institutions, and entrepreneurs in utilizing Microsoft technologies in cloud computing, IoT, big data, AI, and machine learning.

Recognized by DigitalAge magazine as one of Türkiye’s “Top 100 Most Influential Technology Leaders” in 2016, Yantaç has received several awards within Microsoft and served on advisory boards of various startups in Türkiye, the UK, and the US. Before joining Microsoft, he held consulting and management roles at Nexum BoÄŸaziçi.

He holds an MBA from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from BoÄŸaziçi University. Yantaç also lectures in BoÄŸaziçi University’s Executive MBA Program and Istanbul Bilgi University’s Institute of Information Technology Law.


Dr. Kerem Cem Sanlı

Kerem Cem Sanlı is a full-time professor specializing in Civil Law and Competition Law. He currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty and the Director of the Competition Law and Policy Research Centre, recognized as a leading academic institution in the field.
​
He has published numerous books and articles on competition law and law and economics, including pioneering studies such as Economic Analysis of Turkish Tort Law (2007) and Economic Analysis of Contract Law and Contractual Remedies (2015). He currently focuses on the intersection between technology and competition law, particularly regulation of digital platforms.
​
He holds LL.M. degrees from Marmara University (1999) and Harvard Law School (2000) and earned his Ph.D. from Marmara University in 2006.
Dr. Christian Bergqvist
Associate Professor at University of Copenhagen
​
Dr. Christian Bergqvist is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in EU Competition Law with a focus on deregulated and network-tied sectors such as telecom, energy, transport, and post. His work bridges academia and practice, drawing on extensive experience as a lawyer with Tier-1 Danish firms and ongoing involvement as of-counsel in complex cases. Christian is a Senior Fellow at the GW Competition and Innovation Lab in Washington, D.C., and has held research positions at leading institutions across Europe and the U.S.
​
He regularly lectures on competition law at the University of Copenhagen and has spoken at universities and events across the EU, U.S., Asia, and South America. His recent research explores Big Tech and platform regulation, particularly the FAANG companies. Christian also edits Konkurrenceretlige Emner, showcasing top student theses in competition law, and serves as a peer reviewer for several international journals and publishers.


Elena Ponte
Attorney at Federal Trade Commission

Elena Ponte is an attorney in the Mergers I Division of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Competition, where she assists the Commission in evaluating mergers in the pharmaceutical industry, medical devices field, and technology markets, among others.
​
Before joining the FTC, Elena co-founded an AI startup in Silicon Valley, the first synthetic data company backed by Y-Combinator. Elena was also a fellow at the University of Washington’s Tech Policy Lab, and worked at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) at the UN in New York.
In private practice, Elena counseled on international arbitration matters at Herbert Smith Freehills in New York, with focus on LatAm, Asia, and the Middle East.

Elena is a member of the Patent Bar and holds an LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Policy from the University of Washington School of Law, as well as a JD from the University of Ottawa.​
Dr. Philipp Roos
Counsel at Freshfields

Philipp is a Counsel at Freshfields and advises clients on all legal matters relating to new technologies, data and media.
​
He focuses on strategic advice in technology-and-data-driven projects as well as on negotiating all types of IT-and-data-related agreements. Furthermore, he advises on AI projects, platform regulation as well as on all questions regarding copyright and media law. He has also navigated various clients on data protection and telecommunications law in the context of internal investigations regarding official and court proceedings - regularly with a global dimension.
In parallel to writing his PhD thesis on copyright law, he has worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (University of Münster).

Philipp has been seconded to a leading provider of social networks as well as to our London office. Philipp regularly publishes on legal issues surrounding digitalisation and is co-author of standard commentaries on IT and cyber security law. He speaks German and English.


Dr. Sencer Ecer

Sencer Ecer, Ph.D. is an economist specializing in antitrust and financial damages in commercial litigation and international arbitration, serving as Senior Vice President at Compass Lexecon. With more than two decades of experience, he has advised Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and smaller firms on merger reviews, complex disputes, and other high-stakes matters. His work has spanned mergers, price-fixing and collusion, and exclusionary conduct and he has testified in cases involving antitrust conduct and international arbitration. He has also conducted financial valuations of assets across industries and settings.
​
Dr. Ecer’s career has consistently bridged academia and consulting: during his academic years, he advised companies and governments not only on disputes but also on public policy and business strategy; in consulting, he has continued to publish and teach. He combines a breadth of experience with depth in the issues he has covered, reflected in publications on competition policy, regulation, and public policy, as well as leadership of EU-funded research initiatives.
He is the founding member and former chair of the Economics Department at Istanbul Technical University, has held appointments at Georgetown, Koç, and Sabancı Universities, and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Muzaffer EroÄŸlu

Dr. Muzaffer EroÄŸlu is an assistant professor at BoÄŸaziçi University, Faculty of Law, Istanbul, Türkiye. He lectures on company law, corporate governance, law and economics and regulation and competition law. Dr Eroglu holds an LLB from Ankara University, an LLM from the University of Kent and a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London. He is a member of the Ankara Bar.
​
His academic research focuses on company law, corporate governance, law and economics, regulation and competition law. He published and edited several books on company law, corporate governance, regulation and competition in network industries and digitalisation. He also published several articles on company law, corporate governance, competition, and regulation. Currently, his search focuses on corporate governance, regulation and competition law. He also advises several undertakings and institutions on their operations regarding competition laws.
Muzaffer was formerly a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, the European University Institute and the University of Oxford Law School. Muzaffer was also a member of the Sustainable Companies Project organised by the University of Oslo.

He is currently a consultant to the sustainability and competition law project. He volunta rily provides consultancy to the Independent Women Directors Project, Thirty Percent Turkey. He is a mentor at Women@Competition Turkey.​


Dr. Julian Nowag

Julian is an Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong and Lund University (Sweden) specializing in competition law and a leading scholar in the area of sustainability and competition and also working on the intersection between AI and competition. As an associate at the Oxford Centre for Competition Law and Policy he is a managing editor of The Journal for Antitrust Enforcement. His books include Environmental Integration in Competition and Free-Movement Laws (OUP 2016), Research Handbook on Sustainability and Competition Law (ed., Edward Elgar 2024) and the newly forthcoming Global Antitrust and Sustainability: law, economics, enforcement (OUP Oct 2025). His paper Algorithmic Predation and Exclusion with Thomas Cheng received the Concurrences Prize for the Best Academic PaperAntitrust, Category Unilateral Conduct 2023.
Elif Açelya Balkı

Elif Açelya Balkı is Head of Antitrust at Migros Group, where she leads the company’s competition law and compliance efforts. She provides legal counsel on antitrust matters, represents the company before the Turkish Competition Authority, and has overseen major merger filings and investigations. She has had experience in private practice before her in-house career where she advised multinational clients across various industries on competition law, merger control, and compliance programs.
​
She holds two LL.M. degrees, one with a specialization in European Economic Law and the other with Information Technology Law. Elif is also an active speaker and mentor in the field, contributing to academic programs and professional organizations.


Ramazan ErtaÅŸ

Ramazan ErtaÅŸ is an in-house Legal Counsel at NakkaÅŸ Holding, where he oversees the commercial and corporate matters of the group companies and provides strategic legal support to the management.
​
Holding an LL.M. in International Business Law from Tilburg University as a Jean Monnet Scholar, he approaches legal matters with an international perspective. His thesis analysed the assurance requirements under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
​
Ramazan has advised on complex commercial contracts as well as multinational investment and compliance projects. He combines legal analysis with a practical, business-oriented approach and communicates complex issues clearly and systematically.
​
He is fluent in Turkish and English and has lived in the Netherlands and Germany, which has provided experience in working within different legal and cultural environments.
Dr. Eda Åžahin
Senior Lecturer in Law at Bath Spa University
​
Dr. Eda Åžahin-Åžengül is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Bath Spa University, where she teaches core modules such as English Legal System, EU Law, and Competition Law for LLB students, as well as Legal Systems, Research, and Skills for postgraduate students. With a distinguished academic career spanning the UK and Turkey, she has developed an international reputation for her contributions to competition law and policy.
​
She completed her PhD in Law at Queen Mary University of London in 2016, where her research focused on consumer collective redress in EU competition cases. She also holds an LLM in International Competition Law and Policy from the University of East Anglia and undergraduate degrees in Law and Business from Istanbul University. Her scholarly work is widely recognized, with publications in prestigious journals such as the European Business Organization Law Review, the Journal of Consumer Policy, the European Competition Journal and Computer Law & Security Review. She is also the author of the monograph Collective Redress and EU Competition Law (Routledge, 2019) and the forthcoming co-edited book Consumer ADR in Emerging Economies (Routledge, 2025).

She continues to actively engage with international research and practice networks, serving as a referee for journals, book proposals, and research grants.​


Hande Karakülah

Born in 1978, Hande Karakülah is a graduate of Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School and Istanbul University Faculty of Law. Having completed her master’s degree in European Union Law, Hande started her legal career in 2001 at Åžanver & Esin Law Firm. Later, he worked as a freelance attorney at ADMD Law Firm, of which he was a partner, and as a legal consultant in British American Tobacco Turkey, and then worked as the Chief Legal Counsel in Turkey, Middle East and Africa region of Natura&Co, of which Avon is also a part, for 10 years.
​
Throughout her career Hande had multiple roles mostly in legal departments of multinational companies. She had a chance to specialize on marketing and regulations; labour relations and operations; contracts and commercial matters. As her role progresses to oversee all legal matters of the companies she worked for in all the countries she covered, she had an opportunity to handle all legal matters ranging from corporate housekeeping to IP litigation; mergers and acquisition to ethics and compliance.

She is a member of the Center for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies, SES Equality and Solidarity Association and the Transparency Association, and a volunteer of the Bir Adım Var Foundation. Hande strives to be a supporter of all kinds of progressive, civic initiatives, especially those related to women, just as she strives to be a good mother to Alp and a good companion to all her loved ones.
Sezin Turan

Sezin Turan has been working as a legal counsel with expertise in corporate and international business law. She began her career at CerrahoÄŸlu Law Firm as a legal trainee after graduating from Ankara University Law School in 1998 and became a Partner in the Firm, a role she held until 2020.
​
In 2013, she completed an LL.M. in Cross-Cultural Business Practice at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
Sezin joined Sanko Tekstil in 2020 as In-house Legal Counsel and, in 2023, became Global Legal Counsel of RE&UP Technologies Holding BV, a Dutch subsidiary of Sanko Tekstil. Based in İstanbul and Eindhoven, she supports European investments and focuses on EU Green Deal-related sustainability and anti-greenwashing regulations in the textile sector.
She completed the course on “Sustainable Development Goals: Law and Policy” at the University of Cambridge in 2023.

Sezin was recognized in The Legal 500 as a standout attorney during her tenure at CerrahoÄŸlu Law Firm. In the 2012 edition of Chambers and Partners, she was named among the Firm's Key Individuals in the fields of capital markets and banking and finance.
Sezin is fluent in Turkish and English and is a member of the Istanbul Bar Association.

A. Deniz Altınay has extensive experience in a range of international business transactions, shareholder disputes, and corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, privatizations, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and IPO transactions. Leaving behind 30 years in the market, Ms. Altınay also has significant experience in advising companies in connection with international arbitration. She represents and advises a large number of international and local corporate clientele on various aspects of Turkish commercial law in various cross-border transactions and provides ongoing legal consultancy to various reputable local and international clients.

She founded the PBM’s ESG department and created a training program and ESG compliance step plan. She advised many clients on sustainability and ESG matters including ESG rating. She also has academic experience as a part-time adjunct instructor at the Department of Management at BoÄŸaziçi University and also Koç University for the Business Law courses.
Ms. Altınay was a speaker at major conferences and delivered a large number of seminars to top-level directors of major holdings, companies, and banks in the executive education department of BoÄŸaziçi University/BUYEM including liability of board members and managers, business judgment rule, contracts law, data privacy, ESG and sustainability law.
Prof. Dr. Meltem Bağış Akkaya

Prof. Dr. Meltem Bağış Akkaya is currently the Chief Competition Expert at the Turkish Competition Authority. Previously she served as the Head of International Relations and Strategic Planning Departments at the Authority. She has a broad experience in handling merger & acquisition, cartel and abuse of dominance cases in a wide range of sectors ranging from retail, energy to digital platforms. Before joining the Authority, Meltem served as a Consultant to the Minister of Economy and as an Economy Editor in the Turkish Daily News. After graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, she received her Master’s degree on European Union Law from the University of Essex with distinction and her PhD in Economics from the same university. Since 2012, she has been a member of Scientific Committee of Turin School of Regulation (Italy) and a Visiting Professor of Economics and Regulation at the same School. Since 2020, she has also been a Visiting Professor of Economics at Atılım University, (Ankara) specializing in regulation, competition and digital platforms. Meltem has others roles as editors of a number of notable journals namely Journal of Antitrust Enforcement, Mediterranean Bulletin and Competition Bulletin. She has been giving seminars in various international universities on digital economy, competition, regulation and sustainability in the last 15 years. Her research has been published in leading journals.


Dr. Fevzi Toksoy

Dr. M. Fevzi Toksoy is the Managing Partner of ACTECON and has advised in the field of competition law and policy for nearly three decades. Fevzi has grounded his professional life in the principle of fair competition, shaped not only by his academic background and practical experience, but also by a set of lived values that place ethics and compliance at the heart of both business and society.

Over the years, Fevzi has advised international and institutional companies operating across a broad range of industries, contributing to investigations, merger filings, and regulatory reviews in close interaction with the Turkish Competition Authority.
​
He also contributes to the development of competition policy from the perspective of business and industry. He is one of the Vice Chairs of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC) to the OECD and chairs the Competition Committee of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD). He occasionally participates in meetings of the International Competition Network (ICN), where he contributes to global discussions on enforcement trends and regulatory priorities.

Fevzi teaches EU Competition Law (EUL730.1/ABH709.1) at the Jean Monnet Institute of Marmara University Istanbul and has written extensively on competition law and enforcement.
​
He serves as an ambassador of the Value of Competition Programme by the Oxford University Centre for Competition Law and Policy, and is a member of the Antitrust and M&A Committees of the American Bar Association. He also sits on the Advisory Board of the George Washington Competition & Innovation Lab’s Türkiye Initiative (GW CIL).

Beyond his academic and professional work, Fevzi is a founding member and the Chairperson of the Foundation for Civil Society, reflecting his long-standing commitment to ethical governance and the public interest.
Dr. Mathew Heim

Mathew Heim is a (non-resident) Senior Fellow at the George Washington Competition & Innovation Lab. His research focuses on competition policy governance. Over the years he has been published in the Journal of European Competition Law and Practice; the Journal of Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Electronic Commerce Law; the European Competition Law Review; the Journal of Public Affairs; Concurrences; Competition Policy International; as well as through the Breugel institute, where he was also a Visiting Fellow.

In addition, Mathew advises clients on international competition policy and regulatory matters. He was formerly Head of International Competition Policy at Amazon, based out of Seattle, and Vice President and Counsel at Qualcomm in Europe. Before going in-house, Mathew spent over a decade advising clients on the politics of law in Europe and further afield, including competition policy and enforcement, litigation communications, crisis management and political risk. He has advised clients in sectors such as diverse as ecommerce, consumer goods, audiovisual content, technology and software, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, shipbuilding, raw materials and bananas.

Mathew is currently a senior advisor to BIAC’s Competition Committee to the OECD; International Competition Network Non-Governmental Advisor (to the UK Competition and Markets Authority); and Co-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce Task Force Competition Law and the Digital Economy. He studied at the universities of Bristol and Exeter before being called to the Bar of England and Wales. He speaks English, French, Spanish and German - in that order.

She holds an LL.M. from Queen Mary University of London and LL.B. degree from Marmara University School of Law. She has been registered as a Lawyer, Trademark Attorney and Mediator. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, she was listed in GC Powerlist as one of the leading in house lawyers organized by Legal 500.

Teresa Moreira, Head, Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD - United Nations Conference on Trade and Development since October 2016, previously served as Consumer Director General of Portugal (January 2010 - September 2016) and as a Member of the Board of the Portuguese Competition Authority (March 2003 - March 2008) when it was first established. She also served as Portugal's Director-General and Deputy Director General for International Economic Relations, Ministry of Economy, and held senior positions at the former Directorate-General for Competition.

She worked for 20 years as a part-time Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon in the areas of International Economic Law and European Law as well as in European Competition Law and European Economic Law (graduate studies).

Teresa Moreira holds a Law Degree and a Masters' Degree in European Law (European Competition Law) by the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, Portugal.
